Today in SCIENCE we:- Read sia9 Sections 3.2 & 3.3 in the Biological Diversity Unit.
- Did vocabulary for these sections.
- Did ALL of the c&r at the end of 3.2 (#1-6) and 3.3 (#1-7)
- Can you explain the difference between mitosis & meiosis?

Today in SCIENCE we:- Did a lab: DNA extraction.

- Reminder: Spelling/Vocabulary quiz is Thursday. Do you know your 5 words? Can you use them correctly in a sentence?
- Reminder: Current events is on Friday. Is it your turn? Do you have an article? Do you know what is expected? Follow the handout you received at the begining of the year.
All Rest:- Getting your work done is your responsibility. You have plenty of class time to work on it. Use it wisely.
- It is also your responsibility to make up any missed or incomplete tests & quizzes. You need to see me after school or at lunch. I will not chase you around to finish your work.

Today in SCIENCE we:- Reviewed our news article & questions from last week.
- Had a homework check on it.
- Made our own human karyotype & answered questions.
- Describe a normal human
karyotype. - What is the difference between a male
and female karyotype? - Whare are there two chromosomes at
each number/position? - What is a karyotype used
for? - What don't the chromosome pairs match
exactly or look identical?

Today in MATH we:- Made some real world connections: Math & Archeology.
- What is radiocarbon dating? How can we use our graphs?
- Did mp9 p 50-51 activities 1 & 2. Due Tuesday.
- Portfolio project: Design your own code. Start by reading mp9 p 57.
- Remember your porfolio is worth 10% of your grade. Plan to do a good job.
Today in SCIENCE we:- Did a quiz.
- ALL of the quiz questions were check & reflect questions that you did, or should have done for homework. We went over them as a class. If you did your 15 minutes of review each night there should be no reason for you to do poorly on this quiz.
ALL THE REST:- CHEATING. It can take many forms. Don't risk it. You will get a zero, make a phone call home, then an appropriate consequence will be decided upon.
- You have my trust, don't break it by cheating. It is very disappointing to think any of you would cheat.
- Parent volunteers are needed. No parents, no field trips. Please have your parents contact the office if they are interested.

Today in MATH we:- Did a "quiz". It is an open book, with a partner quiz.
- You have two classes to complete it.
- The quiz is worth 150 marks.
- You are expected to show your work on a seperate sheet of paper.
- Be CLEAR, number your questions and staple your work to your answer
sheet. SHOW HOW you did it!
Today in SCIENCE we:- Talked about our VOCABULARY words we did yesterday.
- Talked about the microscopes, did a worksheet.
- Our quiz is moved to MONDAY. It will include microscope parts.
