Today in MATH we:
  • Continued our work with Formulas....how do we use them? Why do we use them?
  • 9H: Read mp9 p120 - about SQUID! Did the activity, #1-4 & HANDED IT IN!
  • 9H: Practice - mp9 p121 #1-13 ALL.
  • 9G: Read mp9 p117 about SONAR & using formulas. Did p118#1-6 ALL.
  • REMINDER 9G & 9H: Problem of the week #8 is due TOMORROW!
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Continued working on our title pages. Due Monday.
  • Wrote a paragraph about our observations from our demonstration yesterday. What did you see? Why do you think you saw that? What would you do differently next time? Why? Due Monday.
  • Made a KWL poster. We filled out the KW columns, we will do the L column at the end of the unit. Handed in our KWL charts.

Today we had a very special presentation by Mr. Lincoln Hall.
  • We would like to extend a huge thank you to Mr. Hall for taking the time to come & speak to our school about his experiences.
  • Please use this presentation as a prompt to think about your dreams, ambitions, and values.
Today in MATH we:
  • Reviewed solving for x and substituting values for variables.
  • Talked about formulas. How do we use them? Why do we use them?
  • Read mp9 p117 as a class.
  • Did mp9 p118 #1-6 ALL.
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did an experiment outside. What happened? Can you describe your observations? Why do you think this happened?
  • Talked about lab safety. Where can you find the lab safety rules?
  • Started work on our Matter & Chemical Change title pages.
  • Don't foget to include: Name, Class, Date, a boarder, 4 pictures (at least) - on from each section, a question on the back that you have about this unit. DUE THURSDAY.

    • Biodiversity unit final on THURSDAY.
    ALL THE REST:
    • You got your first term marks today. There should be no surprises as you knew what you had and had not done. You had 3 days last week to make up missing assignments.
    • If you are not pleased with your mark ask yourself: Did I complete every assignment? Was it the BEST possible quality? Was it on time? Did I use my class time wisely? Did I review for everynight for 15 minutes? Did I study extra hard for tests & quizzes?
    • You had lots of time to make up missed assignments. Where was it when it was first due?
    • It is YOUR responsibility to make sure you have everything done.
    • Nobody GAVE you your grade. You EARNED it. How can you earn a better grade?

    • Edit your biotechnology paragraphs & have them ready for MONDAY.

    • We are coming to the end of both our Math & Science Units. Be prepared, you will have 2 unit finals next week.
    • Some ways to be prepared are: Making sure you are up to date with your assignments, reviewing every night for 15minutes, writing down things you do not understand so you can ask for help.

    • We did Activity 1 #1-2, on mp9 p86 - we listed 3 examples.
    • We did Activity 2 #1 on mp9 p87. We had to THINK of good ways to classify birds.
    • Why would we do this in Math? What is it a form of?
    Today in SCIENCE we:
    • Decided what type of cell division was represented on our worksheet & described why.
    • Talked about the vocabulary - you should have at least 11 words from section 4.0
    • We Reviewed section 3.0, talked about the 3 key concepts:
  • cell division
  • DNA, Chromosomes, Genes, & Alleles
  • Patterns of Inheritance
    • Did Activity A-5 on sia9 p44. This presentation is DUE on WEDNESDAY & should not be longer than 2 minutes.
