Today in MATH we:
  • Finished Phase one of our Geo Communities Projects.
  • Phase 2 Planning is due on FRIDAY at the END of class. I need to see your formulas, dimensions, work, and final calculations. We go 3D on Monday.
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Saw a demonstration with different chemicals and fire. Why were different coloured flames produced? How does this relate to spectral analysis and stars? Think back to light and optics!!
  • You got a take home quiz today. It is due on FRIDAY.
  • We worked on our space exploration magazines. You should be working on tasks 4-5. Aim to have all nine tasks done by Monday, then the rest of your week is editing, formatting, and polishing.
  • REMINDER: Spelling quiz on FRIDAY. 5 words, see yesterday's blog.
ALL THE REST:
  • Be at school on TIME on tomorrow. We leave RIGHT after the bell.
  • Bring a pencil, your calculator, and lunch. An eraser and pencil sharpener may also be good ideas.

  • Worked on our geocommunities project. You should be at the end of Phase 1.
  • Your shapes should be measured, cut out, & glued or ready to glue to your plot of land.
  • Tomorrow we will start phase 2 - building up from our floor plan.
  • Math Homework: Review formulas & how to use them. Do you know all of your SHAPES? Surface Area? Volume? Quiz?
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Worked on our Space Exploration Magazine.
  • Tasks #1-3 should be COMPLETE.
  • How is your formatting going?
  • Have you made yourself a plan or a schedule?
  • Spelling #19 words: geocentric, equinox, solstice, heliocentric, ellipse, bonus word: galaxy. Quiz Friday.

Today in MATH we:
  • Got our geo-communities booklets back, what mark did you get? How can you improve it for phase 2?
  • Got our MONEY!! Keep it in a safe place and make sure your names are on the back of it!
  • Got our plots of land.
  • Started to measure and cut out our shapes to put on our plots of land: use your paper WISELY! It all will cost you!
  • Tomorrow you should be ready to glue your shapes down on your plots of land to create a floor plan.
  • Review quiz....hmmmm what a GREAT idea that would be!

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Worked on our Space Exploration Magazines.
  • You should be investigating task 4 by Wednesday.
  • Remember they are due Next Friday. Make yourself a schedule. If you need help with it, see me.
  • Quiz on Wednesday.

Today in MATH we:
  • Handed in problem of the week #21.
  • Worked on our GeoCommunities project.
  • You should have completed "Phase One" planning. This includes the formula sheet & the 2d planning of your 13 buildings. The Area of your 13 buildings should add up to at least 50% of your total surface area.
  • You should have had a peer check your calculations and handed your booklet in.
  • Monday you get the $$!
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Handed in our kwl charts.
  • Had a look at how the sun moves accross the landscape & different types of images we can capture by looking from space to Earth.
  • Started planning our Space Exploration magazine. It is due Friday May 8th.
  • As a guidline you should be finished tasks 1 & 2 by TUESDAY. Use your time wisely!

  • Field trip forms for Mt. Royal due on MONDAY!!!!!

  • MADE a KWL chart for space.....this should be finished by tomorrow.

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Had our electricity unit final.
  • Started our Space title pages. Don't forget to include a border, name, class, date, at least 4 pictures, one for each of the four sections in the unit, and a question on the back about space. It should be neat, colourful, & creative. DUE WEDNESDAY.

  • You got your field trip forms today. I need them back filled out and signed ASAP. No form, no field trip.
  • You will be getting a letter about the grade 9 study keys for the provinical exams. If you want to order them you must let me know by the end of the week.

  • Do Activity #3 mp9 p 283. Blind spot - you might remember this from grade 8!
  • Do Activity #2 mp9 p 291. What does the word peripheral mean?
  • Do the "test one" Worksheet - show your work.
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did some review for our unit final that has been moved to MONDAY. Use this time wisely.
  • Make sure your unit review is done by Monday, you will be handing it in.
  • The worksheets you got are designed to help you study! Try them!
  • Handed in our 3 Gorges Dam project. I hope you talked to me if yours isn't done!

  • Continued to work on our 3-Gorges Dam Assignment. That was your last class to work on it. It is Due on THURSDAY.
  • Your project should include: A bit about how the dam works, why the dam is there, the area the dam is in, reasons FOR building the dam, reasons AGAINST building the dam, how it affects people in the area, how it affects the environment, and how much electricity it is expected to produce.
  • Continued our unit review: did sia9 p363-364 #11-18.
