Wow, Exam time already!

Monday June 23, 2008 - Social Studies Exam
Tuesday June 24, 2008 - Science Exam
Wednesday June 25, 2008 - Math Exam
Thursday June 26, 2008 - Grade 9 Farewell & Report Cards

Exam Tips:
  • Get a good night's sleep before the exam.
  • Have a good breakfast the morning of the exam.
  • Bring a bottle of water and a quiet snack with you to the exam.
  • Have all of the materials you need for the exam ready the night before: Pencil, Eraser, CALCULATOR!!
  • Review every day from now until the exam, 15-30 minutes per subject is ideal.
  • Read each question CAREFULLY & choose the BEST answer!
  • Be on time for TA - 925AM in your TA, there is nothing worse than starting your exam with that "rushed" feeling.
  • Breathe.
Remember:
You must have your OWN calculator.

Today in MATH we:
  • Did a bit of Review - exponents, square roots, scientific notation, patterns, algebra
  • You got review sheets for chapters 1-4.
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Got a large sheet of paper to work on review/mind map for all of our units.
  • How are your "making connections skills"?
ALL THE REST:
  • We will be returning our textbooks on Wednesday June 18th, make sure you get all of the information you need out of them before then!
  • Three more days of Classroom work left! Summer is SOOOO close!

Today in MATH we:

  • Got a list of concepts we should, recognize, know, & love.
  • Try mp9 p363 #149-169, odd only. What else can you do to help yourself get ready for exams?

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Talked about our THEMES that we have for each unit.
  • How many concepts do you remember from each unit?
  • Read each of the five unit summaries & make THREE (3) conncetions per unit to YOUR everyday life.

ALL THE REST:

  • We played some soccer today. How can we connect soccer to math & science?
  • How does exercise help us focus in class?
  • Independent learners are REVIEWING this weekend!

  • Reviewed how to multiply squares together and how to work with an exponent and make it happy.
  • Complete mp9 p362 #115-147 ODD only.
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Watched some Plantet Earth, how does this series relate to your science review. There are LOTS of connections, how many can you make?
  • We listed the 5 units we have studied. Please list 15 concepts for each unit that you have learned. We will review these on Friday.
ALL THE REST:
  • Independent learning!! Most of you are doing a great job using your class time for review.
  • Five school days until exams....oh my.

  • Develop ONE theme for each unit in science. You should come up with a total of five themes.

  • We watched part of the Planet Earth series today, how does this fit into your science curriculum?
  • Keep all of the units in mind, there is something in there from every single unit.

  • Started Review!!
  • mp9 p360 #1-67. You do NOT have to have it all done for Wednesday. Try to do every second question & then come to class with your questions....you well remember & learn alot more this way!
  • Scientific notation, exponents, bedmas oh my!

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Wrote our unit final for Environmental Chemistry. It was open book, do you feel more confident about choosing the BEST answer?

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Talked about ppm, got a worksheet.
  • Water Quality is usually assessed using BIOLOGICAL indicators & CHEMICAL indicators. Can you name some of them? What are the really important ones? What do they indciate?
  • What is LD-50?
  • Complete sia9 p224 #1-5, p233 #1-8. You do not need to write out the question.
ALL THE REST:
  • I know it is hot and smelly in the classroom - take a shower and wear comfy clothes....sorry that is all we can do for now. Not much longer.....we can do it!
