  • Got Problem of the week #19.
  • Handed in problem of the week #18.
  • Worked on triangles.
  • Activities: mp9 p 232-235 ALL, you do NOT need geometric computer software, use a pencil, protractor & ruler.
  • Do you remember how to name the sides of a triangle? What are the ratios?
  • Had a Homework Check.
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Had Current Events.
  • Did Spelling Quiz #16.
  • Worked on CyberScience in the Electricity unit.
  • Had a Homework Check.

  • You don't have that much homework this weekend.....improve your independent learning skills by reviewing for 15 minutes per subject each day!

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Had a homework check on our c&r p323 & our section 3.0 Vocabulary.
  • Worked on the electricity activities on the cyberscience site.....what did you learn?
  • Read, Understand, & do notes sia9 p324-331.
  • Could you built your own motor?
  • What kinds of energy transformations are we observing?
  • Reminder: SPELLING QUIZ tomorrow.

  • CURRENT EVENTS - BE READY FOR YOUR TURN!
  • Do you have a RULER, a COMPASS, & a PROTRACTOR? We do not have any left in the classroom that you can use. It is YOUR responsibility to have these items.
  • How did you use your class time today? More work done in class is less work that has to be done at home.
  • We had a practice lockdown today. MOST of you did very well. Remember it is your responsibility to YOURSELF & to your classmates to practice these as if they were real. The safety of the whole class is at stake and will NOT be sacrificed because of irresponsiblity.

  • Started our unit on MEASUREMENT (chapter 6)
  • What do you remember about triangles? What is the sum of their angles? What is the Pythagorean Theorem? What are the different names we can give to triangles?
  • For this unit you will need: RULER, PROTRACTOR, COMPASS, coloured pencils and/or felts.
  • Do mp9 p218-219 ALL including the mental math.
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Reviewed our ayl on p317.
  • Will your circuits work? What is the difference between a series & a parallel circuit?
  • Examine the figures on sia9 p313 fig 2.24, 2.25 & p315 fig 2.29, can you build them? What is the difference between them?
  • REMINDER - Quiz on section 2.0 tomorrow. Be ready.

  • Got our midterm results back. Two things: If you did well, good job, your hard work has paid off. If you would like to do better, we need to work on test writing skills.
  • Remember it is ONE test on ONE day!
  • Got problem of the week #18 - have fun, they're getting more challenging!
  • REMINDER: Bring a RULER & Coloured pencils on Monday.

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Had our spelling quiz.
  • Did Current Events. Good job for those of you who were prepared!
  • Do sia9, p316 #10 &11, sia9 p317 #1-6.
  • REVIEW. You have a quiz on Tuesday.

ALL THE REST:

  • We had a presentation from the staff at James Fowler High School Today. Do you know what you need to do to register for grade 10? If not ASK. It is IMPORTANT!
  • Current Events - you know the day you are scheduled to go, be prepared. Telling me that it is "at home" or "I forgot" is unacceptable. No Excuses.

  • Reviewed for our Mid-Term Chapters #1-5.
  • Made a ONE page study sheet with everything we need to know....including how to use our calculators properly.
  • Do you remember uniform motion & rate of work problems?
  • Finished our review on pages 174-175.....and are ready to hand it in tomorrow.

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Reviewed Ohm's Law & how to use the formula.
  • Read sia9 p311-315. How do you draw a proper circuit diagram? What symbols can you include? Will it work?
  • Drew 3 circuit diagrams that we can test tomorrow.
  • Reminder: Spelling quiz on Friday....do you know your words? Can you use them properly in a sentence?

Welcome Back from your Mini-Break!

Today in MATH we:
  • Had our Unit 5 Final. How did it go? Factoring, Foil, & special products oh my!
  • One of the best ways to learn & understand math is PRACTICE!!
  • Work on your review sheets for your Math Mid-Term (units 1-5) on Thursday.
  • Don't forget to complete mp9 p 174-175 ALL. This is great review for your midterm & PAT.
Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Chose our 5 spelling words. Remember you need to SPELL the word correctly AND use it correctly in a sentence.
  • Finished up any work we didn't get to over the weekend.
  • Handed in our orginial illustrations & explanations of the figure 2.2 on sia9 p298.
  • Finished c&r p310 #5-10.
  • Can you make a PROPER circuit diagram? What information do you need to do this?
  • Could there be a quiz this week? Wednesday? Friday? Both?
ALL THE REST:

  • CURRENT EVENTS - don't miss your turn!
  • Homework should: Have a proper title & page number when appropriate, include your FULL name, class & date, have ALL of the questions written down, show ALL of your work & have complete sentences when apprpriate. If you do not satisfy these MINIMUM requirements, you will lose marks.

  • Start your review for your Math Midterm: Chapters 1-4, work on mp9 p174-175 ALL.
  • Make yourself a review sheet: one page, with all of the information you need to help you solve your math problems from chapters 1-5. It should be ORGANIZED, NEAT, & CLEAR. Could you fit an example or two on there?
